Notice determination

December 13th, 2019 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Pays Plat New Housing Units is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

•             There will be positive impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples, which will result in housing for community members.

•             Mitigation measures proposed for the project during construction activities have been prepared and reviewed by ISC.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

•             Inspection by an Ontario Building Code (OBC) – Part 8 qualified individual

•             Installation of septic system as per Ontario Building Code Part 8

•             Installation of septic system by a licensed installer under the Ontario Building Code

•             Inspection of the septic system to be carried out by an Environmental Public Health Officer, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Indigenous Services Canada

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.  Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
