Mr. Sean Masse
Project Manager
Kemess Underground Project, Centerra Gold

Toronto ON M5J 1P1

Dear Mr. Masse:

This is in response to the email dated March 22, 2018, from Ms. Claudette Gouger to Ms. Kristin Coverley. In that email, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency was notified that AuRico Metals Inc. (the proponent) became a wholly owned subsidiary of Centerra Gold on January 8, 2018, but that the proponent remains the owner and operator of the Kemess Underground Project (the Project).

Based on the information provided, the Agency determined that the proponent remains the proponent for the Project. The Agency will replace the name of the principal contact person for the Decision Statement (formerly Mr. Harold Bent) to your name, Mr. Sean Masse. The Agency will post the amended Decision Statement (see attached) on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry.

On November 28, 2017, the proponent also informed the Agency that it was considering changes to the Project and submitted a report entitled Application for an Amendment to Environmental Assessment Certificate #M17-01 to comply with conditions 2.13 and 2.14 of the Decision Statement. The Agency conducted an analysis of the potential adverse environmental effects of the proposed Project changes and determined that mitigation measures and follow-up requirements currently included as conditions in the Decision Statement would address the environmental effects of the proposed Project changes and that no changes to conditions are required. The Agency will post the results of its analysis on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry shortly.

For further information regarding the Decision Statement and conditions, please contact the Agency's Compliance and Enforcement Unit at compliance.conformite@ceaa-acee.gc.ca.

Sincerely,
