Contrecoeur Port Terminal Expansion Project — Public Comments Invited and Information Sessions

January 18, 2018 - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is conducting a federal environmental assessment of the proposed Contrecoeur Port Terminal Expansion Project, located in Contrecoeur, approximately 40 kilometres north-east of Montreal, Quebec.

Public Comment Period

The Agency invites the public and Indigenous groups to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in the proponent's summary of the Environmental Impact Statement.

All comments received will be considered public. Written comments in either official language must be submitted by March 9, 2018 to:

Information Sessions

The Agency invites the public to attend an information session on the federal environmental assessment process, and will also hold an open house and two public sessions with a facilitator to provide information on the project and answer questions/comments from the public.

These activities will all take place at the Centre multifonctionnel de Contrecœur located at 475 rue Chabot, Contrecoeur (Service loisir et culture entrance).

Information Session on the Federal Process: February 7, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Open house session (themed booths): February 27, 2018, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Public session with a facilitator: February 28, and March 1st, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

During the open house and public sessions with a facilitator, representatives of the federal departments, the Quebec government and the proponent will be on site to answer questions.

For both public sessions with a facilitator, persons wishing to ask questions to the proponent or the environmental assessment technical committee should sign up at the welcome table within 45 minutes (from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm) prior to the start of the public sessions.
