Reconstruction of the Bois-Sent-Bon Trail – Public comments invited
September 9, 2026 – The Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC-CWS) must determine whether the proposed reconstruction of the Bois-Sent-Bon Trail, located within the Cap-Tourmente National Wildlife Area, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To support an informed determination, the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC-CWS) is inviting the public to provide comments on this determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.
Written comments may be submitted by October 16, 2026, to:

The proposed project
The Bois-Sent-Bon Trail, 1,227.5 m in length, consists primarily of a wooden boardwalk that has reached the end of its useful life. With the exception of the observatory located along the river and the wooden access ramps leading to it, all existing infrastructure will be replaced.
The project involves the complete reconstruction of the trail, with an increase in its width to improve accessibility for people with reduced mobility, notably through the addition of wheel guards. The work will be carried out in phases between winter 2026 and fall 2028 to maintain public access to the area and minimize disruptions.
Temporary trails and storage areas will be established to support the work while minimizing impacts on the natural environment. Existing infrastructure will be progressively dismantled and reconstructed in accordance with the established phasing. Once the work is completed, the temporary facilities will be removed and the affected areas restored. Recoverable materials will be retained. Waste materials, including treated wood and hazardous materials, will be removed and managed in accordance with applicable regulations.
