In Support of the Bridge

I highly support the project. For too long, the dense Lowertown and Sandy Hill neighbourhoods have had to suffer the noise and pollution from heavy truck traffic. The current route very dangerous for residents and risky for truck drivers, having to turn tight corner multiple times to get between the bridge and Nicholas. The Kettle Island route offers a straight route between the A50 and 417, with a natural buffer along the route on the Ottawa side.

Public transportation should be prioritized as we build this bridge. The route offers a fantastic opportunity to connect key destinations on both sides of the river. La Cité sector in Gatineau with its arena, Cegep, city facilities, performance art centre and the Rapibus. In Ottawa, the route connects the Aviation Museum, Montfort Hospital, CMHC, La Cité Collégiale and nearby NRC, CSIS, CSEC, and the O-Train. The route should include a full Transitway with frequent bus service connecting all of these destinations.

The route should also have separate cycling and pedestrian facilities from end to end for cyclists and pedestrians.
