I support the initiative to improve regional mobility, but I strongly object to the current proposal.

The Aviation Parkway is much more than a roadway; it is an NCC-protected cultural landscape. It is a highly valued urban green space where families run, cycle, and enjoy the natural environment. It also successfully performs its historic, designated purpose: helping thousands of daily commuters bypass heavy highway gridlock.

The current plan to widen the parkway and designate it as a major freight route will destroy both vital functions. It replaces a scenic, tranquil public asset with a traffic-heavy corridor. The project's own studies confirm that noise, traffic, and airborne pollutants will rise significantly along these existing roads. This approach fails local citizens and will replace a cherished green space with localized neighborhood congestion and environmental degradation. The OC transpo route that services Montreal road are already frequently late due to traffic and congestion. This will amplify all exiting problems, not solve them.

Ultimately, this design does not solve the region's congestion issues; it simply relocates them. Technical studies confirm that the project will introduce substantial traffic, noise, and airborne emissions to areas where they do not currently exist. This project will create a new, permanently congested gridlock zone in our neighborhoods.
