As an avid outdoors enthusiast since I can remember I have a love for the outdoors and all that it provides. I grew up in Newfoundland with rivers bursting with Atlantic Salmon and retention tags for anglers up over 10 per year!  To currently spending days on a river without seeing a fish and many rivers continuing to have  very low returns.  I have seen first hand the damages from natural environments to these ecosystems.  Throwing the corporate and industrial world into the mix is a very dangerous game and should be held to the highest standard available no matter the river/community/province involved.  I know of the expansive efforts that have been conducted to try and protect the ecosystems involved in this project. Focus needs to be on the science and knowledge base before economics should even be considered.  Now is not the time for short cuts.  I have travelled many of Canadas National parks. I recently spent a weekend on the St Mary's river and made a comment that this area should be made into a national park or at least a protected ecosystem as it would be in my opinion one of the most beautiful and pristine areas I have travelled.  The diversity of wildlife and aquatics is amazing.  If we want to stay true to ourselves and our Beautiful Country this project and all moving forward deserve everything we have available to make the effort in the name of conservation.
