The companies involved int he project have a poor track record of protecting the environment as does the present govenment in Nova Scotia. Open pit mining is inherently destructive and in an area that is dotted with waterways interconnected both above and below ground nobody can guarentee where polluted water will be both now and in the future. These mines have a poor risk reward ratio and should not be considered especially when considering that the product is not essential nor in short supply.
