A Lifelong Nova Scotian’s Support for the 15-Mile Processing Hub Project

As a lifetime resident of Nova Scotia, I am supporting the proposed 15-mile Processing Hub Project.

Projects such as this one are a necessary part of creating the opportunity for Nova Scotian families to be able to develop their lives at home in the province. In addition to jobs created directly through the mining industry, there will be jobs generated with local businesses, contractors, suppliers, and service providers across the province.

I have seen the great deal of design work that has gone into reducing the environmental impact and addressing concerns from regulators, local communities, and the Mi'kmaq of Nova Scotia. It is evident that a lot of effort was put into improving the project while still realizing the economic benefits the project can offer.

In my view, the company's commitment to community investment and reclamation is another positive aspect. The work done at the Touquoy mine so far shows that responsible development and responsible closure can occur simultaneously.

For these reasons, I believe the 15-Mile Processing Hub Project has the ability to generate meaningful job opportunities for Nova Scotians while also assisting to strengthen our rural communities over the long term.
