Uniting Towards Gender Equality for the Total Health and Rights of Women and Girls (TOGETHER)

This project aims to improve access to health rights for the most vulnerable children, adolescent girls, and women in Kenya. The main objective of this initiative is to contribute to the overall goals of the TOGETHER project, which are to improve the health, nutrition, and hygiene of vulnerable populations, particularly women, adolescent girls, and children under five. ADRA Kenya plans to drill three wells in the following locations in Turkana County: 1) the village of Achumae in West Turkana Sub-County, 2) the village of Ekaburu in Lokichogio Sub-County, and 3) the village of Lorus in Lokichogio Sub-County. Other key activities for this project include:

• Installation of a solar-powered pump (approximately 30 m²) at the three drilling sites to ensure constant access to water in the event of a power outage.

• Installation of a water tank (9 meters high) to facilitate a stable water supply.

• Construction of a pumping station (approximately 12 m²) at the three drilling sites.

• Installation of piping (approximately 300 m) for efficient water distribution

• Installation of a fence (approximately 200 m) to protect the infrastructure and prevent vandalism.

The geographic area (Turkana County) is characterized by:

• a hot, arid climate typical of the arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya

• Average annual rainfall ranging from 150 mm to 400 mm, with some areas receiving even less rain during prolonged dry spells.

• Average annual temperatures ranging from 24 °C to 38 °C
