Saltsprings NS proposed LNG plant

We have lived about 20km east of the proposed Saltsprings NS for the past 20 years and further east of it for 16 years prior to that. We do not wish to live downstream of its exhaust.

Methane gas is not repeat not repeat cleaner than coal. It is a potent trapper of heat - whether leaks in drilling, leaks in transportation, from burning burning.

"While carbon dioxide is more abundant and longer-lived, methane – the main component of natural gas – is far more effective at trapping heat while it lasts. Over the first two decades after its release, methane is more than 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide in terms of warming the climate system."

In summary, the NS Power LNG power plants in general should not get built and the Saltspring one is a definite no go for my family specifically.

Very concerned
