Nuclear power has no place in our world

Having read the compelling arguments by the numerous people, some of whom I know and respect, in opposition to the proposed New Nuclear at Wesleyville Project, l would like to focus on the following concerns:

*Why would someone support the most expensive, most risky, most unproven energy option that is controlled by a foreign power, financially beneficial to a very few, paid for by those who are already struggling financially and contradictory to the laws of Nature? If the new Nuclear is to be considered the right or best option for meeting future energy demands, why is the taxpayer footing the bill?

* Where is the indisputable evidence that there is no security risk? That Canada will not be increasingly dependent on the United States?

* Where does a waste depository exist where there is guaranteed safety for up to one million years? Will all future projects be equally as safe?

* Is there a guarantee that initial and future costs  will not increase exponentially from the original budget?

* Given the many years required to make nuclear projects operational and the increasing climate crisis, what  renewable energy sources will be utilized during the interim?

*Acknowledging the increasing references to nuclear fusion as the emerging nuclear technology, what will be the life expectancy of the proposed Project?

*What methodology will be utilized, given the invitation to the public to express their opinions, to assess the value of the comments provided?

*Given the potential impacts, as expressed by many, will their be an opportunity provided for public debates featuring recognized experts on both sides of the issue?

*Given the the potential risks, costs and dangers can extend far beyond the proposed sight, including along the component and the waste transportation routes, why aren't all communities offered the right of dissent and financial subsidies?

* If and when there are modifications to the proposed initial plan, will all of the people and communities previously consulted be provided with opportunities to revise or withdraw their consent or their reasons for opposing?

* Given the rapidly escalating climate and affordability crises, how is the proposed Project compatible with the Degrowth imperative?
