To whom it may concern

I am writing to express my strong opposition to this project on the basis of it being misaligned with the values that will bring New Brunswick into an environmentally and energy conscious future. While I understand the importance of increasing capacity and resilience in our power grid, there is no room for combustion based energy production in an environmentally conscious future. We as New Brunswickers understand the implications of climate change as we notice our summers getting warmer and our storms becoming stronger and more frequent. I, and many others, in no way support the construction of such an environmentally egregious project, and instead would like to suggest NB Power get themselves and our power grid up to date by investing in greener energy solutions such as solar or wind energy that does not negatively impact our climates and our forests. This project is not only outrageously backwards from a climate change mitigation perspective, but downright comical when one reads NB Power's own website with information in support of ditching fossil fuels and swapping to electric vehicles. Vehicles which would, if this project were to go forward, in turn be charged by powered generated via combustion, the very CO2 emitting villan citizens seek to avoid by making this switch. I am ashamed that our Province is even considering such a move and implore those making the decision to consider their children's future and our rapidly warming present in the choice. This is an opportunity for New Brunswick to move forward into a cleaner energy future, and instead this proposal seeks to directly negatively impact our environment for the duration of its operation.
