Human Environment

NWMO will be held accountable for the physical environment, biological environment, they will be held accountable to the indigenous nations and communities, however their commitment to the Human Enviornment is not only questionable it is very concerning.  For years they committed to safety and promised Ignce economic and social prosperity.  Since the agreement has been signed there is a significant and noticeable change in support to the organizations, busineses and schools.   NWMO must be held accountable to the Human Environment.  This area must be strengthened with more specific indicators including comparisons of baseline to goals -  the number of businesses, the number of increased activities, sports, recreation, number of students in the schools, etc.  These were the promises NWMO made for years and they have a role in this and must stop saying that this is the responsibility of a small Municipality - disgusting that after signing NWMO started saying look to the agreement and the municipality.  In addition,  they have stopped the generous supports to events, functions, clubs and schools.  Where once there was plenty of funds they are now limited with an application process.  Ignace is expecting prosperity and NWMO has a responsibility to work collaboratively and with the municipality.  NWMO must have a team for the Human Environment as they do for the others, there must be specific goals, specific indicators for success and they must be held accountable.
