Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for Canada's Used Nuclear Fuel Project
Disqualify the Proposed Site

We would like to draw attention to the egregious decision by the NWMO to include a site upstream from Grassy Narrows First Nation for consideration as a possible location for burying and abandoning Canada's high-level nuclear waste.
In its public-facing "information" sessions, the NWMO has presented the project as absolutely foolproof. Leaving aside that the Titanic was thought to be unsinkable, proposing to site a nuclear waste dump upstream from Grassy Narrows, no matter how "safe", is unconscionable.
Grassy Narrows First Nation has suffered, and continues to suffer, from industrial mercury dumped upstream. It is inconceivable that anyone who knows this would propose to bury nuclear waste upstream from the community. The level of disrespect is hard to grasp.
The Impact Assessment Agency should reject this project based on the completely inappropriate proposed location.
Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Berger
