I oppose the development and operation of the Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for Canada's Used Nuclear Fuel, proposed for northwestern Ontario.  There are a multitude of areas of concern around this proposal, not least anong them the possibility of a breach of containment at any point in the journey of the spent nuclear fuel (read: waste) from its origin in southern Ontario to the proposed site. A full impact assessment is the very least that should be done, and I'm confident that if the findings are actually considered, the proposal will not proceed. There are far to many fail-points, in particular the likelihood of an accident during transport on this, one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the country. The lack of a guarantee of the indefinite containment of spent nuclear fuel poses a dire threat to all inhabitants downstream of this site, which includes a large portion of the Lake Winnipeg watershed.
