Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for Canada's Used Nuclear Fuel Project
Concerns and Opposition to the Proposed DGR

I don't support the burial of nuclear waste at the proposed site near Ignace because of the following:
Unsafe Transportation: There are continual accidents almost daily on the Transcanada routes Hwy 11 and 17 in Northern Ontario, including between Thunder Bay and Ignace.
Earthquakes: There have been earthquakes in Northwestern Ontario, some near Ignace. The ground is not as stable as claimed and the number of earthquakes should be investigated.
Glaciation and Climate Change: A warning was issued by Iceland about the future collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation that would contribute to an Ice Age in both Europe and Canada decades into the future. Has there been any research into the impact of glaciation that could alter geological conditions, potentially leading to increased groundwater flow and pressure on the repository?
Public Health Risk: Has there been any Public Health agencies or organizations that have assessed the risk to the health and wellbeing of the residents that live near or around the area of the site? If not, why aren't the Public Health agencies or organizations making any assessments? We should be informed of the public health risks of such a huge environmental impact as environment is one of the social determinants of health.
