My name is Lydia Johnson, I am the director of the Indigenous Great Lakes Network and a resident of Thunder Bay Ontario which is situated along the proposed transportation route.
My main issues, outside of my concern for the project itself are: the 30-day comment period is too short for meaningful comments to be made, the project description is poorly done and lacks information, and there is a lack of detail regarding project activities.
Most importantly:
LONG DISTANCE TRANSPORTATION MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT REVIEW.
INFORMATION REGARDING HOW PROJECT ACTIVITIES MAY HARM THE HARVESTING RIGHTS (I.E., FISHING, HUNTING, FORAGING) OF INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES AND PEOPLE
I am requesting this project be the subject of a full impact assessment including a public hearing, and that the Impact Assessment Agency ensure that the public is able to participate in a meaningful way through each step of the process.
Thank you for considering my comments and concerns.
Lydia Johnson, Thunder Bay, Ontario
