no nuclear wate

I am extremely concerned about impacts of this project on my community and surrounding areas. Primary concerns:

-Long term safety. We have been assured that the storage of nuclear waste is safe, pointing to only a few other repositories as examples (which have not been around long enough for us to know their effectiveness). Unfortunately we have not studied the longterm affects of these repositories on the environment, or the people living in these regions. Insuffiecient research has been done on potential for illness, climate impacts, radioactivity and water contamination, and the public has not been educated on these direct consequences. We live on and around the greatest freshwater lake in the world. It is extremely important for us to protect this water at all costs.

-Our indigenous people have not agreed to this project. While Wabigoon Lake First Nation has been involved in discussion, none of the other first nations have been invited to take part. They have a right to voice their concerns and have the opportunity to speak on behalf of their people. This repository does not only affect the host community, but the entire northwestern ontario

-Highway Safety during transportation. With a rise in highway accidents involving transports, it is extremely concerning that nuclear waste may become a factor in these already dangerous collisions. A spill would be absolutely devastating.

I do not want this repository in my community. Alternatively, I advocate for reprocessing and recycling, as well as on site storage. Please stop this project.
