One critical issue that has not been addressed is the ongoing decommissioning of the nuclear reactor/lab at Whiteshell. This is less than 250kms from the proposed nuclear site near in Ignace. It is widely known that local deer populations have been negatively affected, with documented abnormalities and long standing advisories warning against hunting and consuming them because of disease. There are signs along the #1 hwy regarding the same. The proposed nuclear site lies within close proximity to the whiteshell area and overlaps with a vast, ecologically rich landscape that supports wildlife relied upon by nearby communities for hunting and susbstinence. Ignoring this context raises questions about environmental risk, food safety, and long term health of the both the ecosystem and the people who depend on it. Any proposal that fails to recognize these realities cannot be considered thorough, responsible, or protective of the regions environmental integrity. The summary mentioned that it wasn't aware of any ongoing projects nearby but canada's own website show the map of the ongoing decommissioning of the nuclear reactor/lab. The proximity of this project and its decommissioning and affects on the area is crucial for this impact assessment and were not considered.
