It is essential that any project assessment consider, 'at the very ouset', all relevent factors of which must include not only site selection, site preparation, complete design and construction including administration materials equipment manpower etc, the input of public including all affected municipalitites/First Nations and of course the impact to those more in proximity with the area of the deposit and to the entire area affected by the daily transportaion of the dangerous wastes. For the most part it appeasrs this latter point is being postponed from immediate inclusion in the assessment providing an incomplete picture and in my opinion, a huge waste of the time and effort to date, as I beleave transportation to be a very critical component in the assessment, one which could identify a turning point in the decision to proceed.
We the residents of Ontarion particularly Northern Ontario are unfortunately all too familiar with the occurence of varying road and weather condtions through the lengthy route together with driver posible error due to fatigue, inattentiveness, vehicle condition etc. quite possibly resulting in severe accidents and potential for load damage and environmental affects.
