transportation of nuclear waste

I can't see how this excercise can be completed without going through the Department of Transportation. With 2 to 3 overloaded transports, hauling the highest level radioactive waste, down a 2 lane highway in NWO, even a minor incident, let alone a major accident, could quite concievably shut the transCanada highway down for weeks, or even months, which would be devastating for both industry, and many communities that rely on this route being useable. I believe, not taking every precaution available would be unforgiveable, as that is why we have the Dept. of Transportation in the first place. That is their reason for being, to protect the citizens of this province from potentially devastating consequences. This is not low risk cargo, but a highly toxic substance, with a deadly lifespan of 25,000 years, and I would like to think every sane precaution we have available to us, would be used to its fullest, to ensure the safety of all the residents along the entire route. Thank you, Jim Laven
