Transportation Issues/Concerns

Honestly my biggest concern is the transportation side of this.

We’re talking about single-lane highways for most of the stretch between Thunder Bay and Ignace. Anyone who actually drives that road knows how dangerous it already is — weather, wildlife, transports, accidents, closures, you name it.

Adding more high-risk shipments to that same highway just doesn’t sit right with me unless major infrastructure comes first. At minimum, I think the highway should be twinned from Thunder Bay to Ignace before anything like this moves forward.

Same goes for rail. If waste is being shipped by train, there needs to be serious investment into rail safety, monitoring, and emergency response — not just assumptions that everything will be fine.

I’m not saying “no” — I’m saying the infrastructure and safety need to come first, not after.
