DGR Concerns

I'm writing to express my concerns regarding and opposition to the transportation and burying of nuclear waste as proposed for Northern Ontario. If government exists to serve the people - rather than serving the corporations that stand to gain from proposed developments - then the government needs to provide more time for the many communities affected by this proposal to learn about and respond with their valid concerns. These communities include all those that could and will be affected by the presence of toxic nuclear waste along transportation routes, those living at the proposed cite and those living within the Wabigoon and Rainy/Turtle River watersheds. Also, transparency and honesty is vital. To mislead the community by writing that nuclear energy is necessary to address the climate crisis is misleading when we know the high cost of nuclear relative to renewables and the inability for nuclear energy to replace fossil fuels in time to mitigate the climate crisis.  Also, I strongly urge you to step back from investing in more nuclear development in Canada as a response to our climate crisis. Clearly, the pollution created during all stages of the nuclear cycle and the resulting problem of nuclear waste management warrants directing our solutions toward renewables.
