I am extremely concerned about the prospect of nuclear waste being transported (thousands of kms, on public roads) to the proposed Nuclear Waste dump at Chalk River. A full impact assessment and public hearing are essential to us (the public) understanding all the pros and cons of this project. That the transportation is Excluded from any assessment suggests that it has the potential to be extremely hazardous and thus, best that the public should not beb aware, for fear that we might actually oppose such a plan. Government secrecy tells us there is something to hide.
Nuclear power's claim to be clean (non-polluting) is FALSE. No one has really figured out a way to safely dispose of the tons of radioactive waste (though there are many "ideas", including this proposed Chalk River dump). Such a "mound" will, sooner or later, inevitably leak - contaminating the surrounding area, including the Ottawa River. This is a horrible legacy we will leave to our children and grandchildren!
