The Town of Kapuskasing, Ontario, submits this comment as a potentially impacted municipality with respect to the proposed Nuclear Waste Management Organization project at the Revell site.

The Town is concerned that the Initial Project Description excludes the long-distance transportation of high-level radioactive waste, despite transportation being an integral and necessary component of the project. The proposed movement of radioactive waste through or near municipalities in Northeastern Ontario over multiple decades presents potential implications for public safety, municipal infrastructure, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection.

As such, the Town of Kapuskasing fully expects that transportation activities and associated impacts be included within the scope of the federal Impact Assessment to ensure a comprehensive and transparent review.
