OPPOSE

As a resident of Winnipeg and a First Nation woman from Treaty 3, I strictly oppose this proposal. Signing on to this length of disposal project is signing away the future of our youth. We need much much much more research into the short term and long term impacts and risks associated with the transportation of nuclear waste and disposal of this scale. Our waterways in Treaty 3 have been impacted from generations of mining and hydro, we can't continue to put our communities at risk and risk further contamination to the water system when it's a basic necessity for us to live. There is no excuse for dumping nuclear waste in our backyards. We need to move away from large scale projects like nuclear that create this level of waste and look to renewable energy sources that keep our waters safe. It's truly sickening to see this same story play over and over.
