SHARE project in Mozambique

The Sexual Health and Reproductive Education (SHARE) project is funded by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada and is implemented by a consortium led by Right to Play International, in collaboration with WaterAid and the Forum for African Women Educationalists. This project aims to help adolescents, young adults and their communities access better sexual and reproductive health care in Mozambique, Ghana and Uganda. In this context, the following construction and related activities are planned in Mozambique: rehabilitation (4 healthcare facilities [HCFs]) and refurbishment (1 HCF) of existing toilets in the maternity ward, drainage pipework, septic tank, and handwashing station in 5 of 6 HCFs; rehabilitation of water distribution network (5 HCFs) and pipework (2 HCFs); construction of sanitary blocks for out-patients, including demolition of existing sanitary blocks as they are not structurally sound or meet national standards in 5 of 6 HCFs; construction, rehabilitation and/or refurbishment of incinerators and other waste treatment units (e.g. placenta pits) in 5 of 6 HCFs; and various repairs across all 6 HCFs, including painting treatment rooms and the Adolescent and Youth-Friendly waiting room (1 HCF), repairing walls, windows, and roofs.
