Marmora Clean Energy Hub Project

Key considerations:

  • What research was conducted to establish that the Common Nighthawk, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Eastern Whip-poor-will should be downgraded from threatened to a special concern?
  • With the extensive fencing installed along the #7 highway to protect turtles what steps will be taken to protect the turtle population in this area?

Attention to:

  • The effects on the wildlife in the area with this project.
  • The language in the research documents needs to be specific and fact based.
  • The future protection plans that will be put in place.

Recommendation:

  • Provide documentation of research being conducted in the field and on what species.
  • Provide documentation of species/environments at risk
  • Provide details of future protection plans for wildlife species being put at risk.

Other concerns:

  • Effects on other ecosystems that have populated that area.
  • What species will/ will not be researched on the project?
  • Will ongoing monitoring/studying be conducted in this area to bring awareness of any issues in the future?
  • Will there be Land Guardians to monitor our wildlife populations and ensure that they aren't being put at risk?
