We do know we are late but we would still like to provide our comments. Water & Fish – Water is of most concern, the quality and what is being released once it is out of the spillway and back into the rivers. Is this specifically for flood protection or a plan for drought conditions? As well, what is the long-term plan for fish and other species caught in the spillway and canals? Archeological Studies – We know that area is within valleys and coulees used by our Peoples, what is the archeological plan to address chance findings? Medicinal Plants – The grasslands have medicinal plans that many of our Peoples still use and harvest, is there an inventory of medicinal plants that may be impacted and will harvest opportunities be provided? Climate Change – The recent flooding in British Columbia is cause for concern and illustrates climate change is a reality, is the proposed upgrading to existing irrigation and drainage infrastructure sufficient to protect the lands and the rivers from a climate calamity?
