  • I do not wish to see the Ksi Lisims LNG pipeline built. I have a young son and the world he inherits from me needs to be thriving with salmon, wild places, and clean water. I believe the long term good of humanity (and my family) is more important than the short term profit from a pipeline and the climate change/environmental degredation it creates. Furthermore, recently mountain bike trails were built in the region and are a sustainable economic force, and a piepline will detract from the appeal of that tourism revenue. I love to mountain bike and will gladly spend money in the region when I go visit from Terrace, but if a pipeline is build I will not go visit. Lastly, I want to say that the people of this region are the wealthiest people in the world because there is a supply of clean water and abudant wild places, how will our children and grandchildren judge us when we value pipelines more than their hapiness and healhty ecosystems.

Given the proposed Project lifespan of 30+ years, it may help Asian governments reach climate targets in the short-term, but over the long-term (i.e., the lifespan of the Project), the combustion of LNG as opposed to renewable energy will exacerbate climate change and the myriad related environmental issues. Furthermore, the upstream extraction of natural gas and transportation in pipelines results in the leakage of methane, which is 86 times stronger than CO2 at trapping heat over a 20- year period (Myhre et al, 2013).   • Climate change is a global issue and this project is a great way for Canada to be a global leader and supplier of low carbon energy to the world.  Being able to supply Asia with LNG to help them transition off coal from a facility aiming to be net zero emissions within a few years is a win for the globe and for Canada.  To my knowledge the geographic location of this facility will be one of, if not the shortest routes to supply energy to Asia from North America again making it a superior facility to offer the lowest carbon intensive LNG in the world.  This is a great project to support loweing global carbon emissions and to provide great economic benefits to Canada.

  • It's not like me to write something like this to folx like you. That this project is being considered tells me that the focus of the provincial government is simply the status quo. even the bureaucrat reading this. that you aren't quitting your job over stuff like this tells me that you are comfortable with what's going on. with the fires (caused by climate change and settler modification of ecosystems), and the many residential school murders being revealed (they're more connected than maybe you think off hand, but they are), the idea of entertaining applications that focus on the continued economic development of fossil fuels and other global warming resources makes little sense to me. My only direct comment is that you ought not to approve this plan. it's another waste of money to continue the up and down cycle for a system of production that isnt sustainable and even isn't advisable. if you're reading this you probably are privileged enough to hold a bachelors degree, at least. even if you studied the useless stuff like economics and all that noise, please, you must have engaged with some form of critical thinking in at least one of your electives. try and employ that now. talk to folx in your ministry and help them move away from being okay with all of this. being okay with all of this means youre comfortable and okay with going home to your family when your kids might not have food to eat in 50 years. animals wont have habitats in 10. and that youre okay with removing people from their lands, still, like the residential schools did, all of this, and you're simply okay with it. that's too bad. when you watch star wars do you think youre on the side of the rebels or the empire? ...

Hall* and Rajesh Tandon – Co-Holders, UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, School of Public Administration, University of Victoria, Canada and the Society for Participatory Research in Asia Abstract This article raises questions about what the word ‘knowledge’ refers to. Drawn from some 40 years of collaborative work on knowledge democracy, the authors suggest that higher education institutions today are working with a very small part of the extensive and diverse knowledge systems in the world. Following from de Sousa Santos, they illustrate how Western knowledge has been engaged in epistemicide, or the killing of other knowledge systems. Community-based participatory research is about knowledge as an action strategy for change and about the rendering visible of the excluded knowledges of our remarkable planet.
