The federal government/agencies must enter into a joint federal-provincial review of the Tent Mountain Mine not only because of federal jurisdiction that this mine falls under, but because my Alberta government and agencies will not properly review the project if left to just provincial review, given the pro-industry political actions and statements of the current provincial government.
Everyone knows that the current provincial government will not protect the water sources in the mountains and foothills from coal mining pollution given the very public claims by the Alberta government Ministers for the Environment and for Energy,  that coal mining can be done responsibly under Alberta's environmental standards and regulations.  This is a claim that is completely contradicted by the historic evidence of pollution in Alberta's Eastern Slopes from coal mining, especially with respect to selenium pollution.  Without federal involvement, the political pressure from the provincial government will lead to a rubber-stamp approval of the Tent Mountain Mine proposal.
On just the water pollution issue alone a federal review is necessary for Tent Mountain.

With respect to other issues that should be reviewed in a joint review, where the federal government reviews any issues that fall under federal legislation or guidelines, I could not write any better summary request than has already been submitted by Andrea Hlady on this project to this public consultation phase.  So, I request as part of my submission that the agency also follow Hlady's suggested scope for the joint review, as attached to Sam Gunsch submission on Tent Mountain -   Reference 180 submission file -  Andrea Hlady, submission to Impact Assessment Agency of Canada - Canada caAndrea Hlady, submission Reference # 180
