Shamattawa Water treatment plant

The proposed project consists of the construction and operation of a water treatment lant (WTP) expansion and watermain distribution upgrade for Shamattawa First Nation. The existing water treatment and distribution systems were initially constructed approximately 20 years ago and are nearing the end of their design life. Additionally, the facilities have also experienced maintenance and operational
challenges during the service lifetime that need to be addressed. The planned construction start date is January 2021 and expected substantial completion is July 2022. The expansion and upgrades to the existing WTP are intended to meet the  communities' potable water requirements for a design horizon year of 2040.
