Hi Andreane,
Following a period of comment on response with the BC EAO regarding the proposed changes to the Project, Kitselas is satisfied with the following information regarding our concerns about impacts to the seabed resulting from the anchor blocks and chains:
“An ROV survey was conducted by Cedar in May 2024 that surveyed the habitat within the expanded Marine Terminal Area. Sediments consisted primarily of fine, soft, muddy materials, and no species at risk were observed (Appendix D). The potential effects of the catenary mooring system on fish and fish habitat have been reviewed by DFO and a Letter of Advice was provided to Cedar on December 12, 2024. This Letter of Advice confirms that the mooring system is not likely to result in effects that are prohibited under the Fisheries Act.”
At this time, we have no further comments on the proposed changes.
Thank you,
Jane
