As a property owner on Lake Manitoba, I see this as a tremendous tool for economic development.  A beautiful resort area just 1 hour away from Winnipeg, that doesn't naturally flood easily, is under threat only because of a flood channel built to protect Portage La Prairie and Winnipeg from the Assiniboine River overflowing.  We deserve the same protection from overuse of the Portage Diversion.  I'm fully in favour of this flood channel being made permanent and used to manage water flow for lake proeprty owners, others at risk of flooding, those who want to use the lake recreationally, and for supporting downstream projects (ex. hydro generation).  Let's get this built!
