There is definitely enough gold in the open market, no reason at all to mine more of it other than the profit of some companies.  The direct impact of open pit mining is tremendous, and we do not have endless nature in NS. In case something goes wrong there are very troublesome consequences and as we all learned from Murphy’s law, everything that can go wrong will go wrong.  A company with a dubious track record will not really help to improve the odds.
