Hello,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the grassy mountain coal project. The damage to biodiversity, and the environment and the risks to human health and well being are far too great. We have done enough damage through coal mining to know what the risks are. Protecting natural habitats, biodiversity, air and water quality need to be top priorities. It is time for this province and country to find a new way forward. We must stop putting corporate greed and economic growth ahead of the health and well being of people.
I have two young children and I desperately want to leave them with a habitable planet, and dare I dream, even some of the beauty and wonder of this world to enjoy. The argument that this coal would be burned elsewhere and therefore the emissions would not be Canada's is an immature and dangerous game. If we have any chance at avoiding catastrophic climate change Canada must begin to lead rather than make poor excuses for bad decisions.
Sincerely a concerned citizen and mother,
Kristine Edgington
