Star-Orion South Diamond Project - Public Comments Invited

August 14, 2013 - The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is conducting a comprehensive study type environmental assessment of the proposed Star-Orion South Diamond Project located in Saskatchewan. The Agency invites the public to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects as described in a summary of the proponent's revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

Shore Gold Inc. is proposing to construct, operate, maintain and eventually decommission an open-pit diamond mine, processing facilities and associated infrastructure in the Fort à la Corne Provincial Forest located approximately 60 kilometres east of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

This project is being assessed using a science-based approach under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

Following this comment period, the Agency will prepare a comprehensive study report, setting out its conclusions on the environmental effects, the proposed mitigation measures, and the significance of any remaining adverse environmental effects. A public comment period on the Comprehensive Study Report will be announced later.
