Jackpine Mine Expansion Project – Federal Funding Allocated to Support Aboriginal Participation in Environmental Assessment

OTTAWA, April 8, 2013 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency today has allocated $76,597 among six Aboriginal applicants to support their participation in consultation activities related to the environmental assessment of the proposed Jackpine Mine Expansion project located north of Fort McMurray, Alberta.

This Aboriginal funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency and is intended to support the participation of Aboriginal groups in the review and comment on the Joint Review Panel Report.

A funding review committee, independent of the panel review process, was established to assess the requests for funding.
