KSM (Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell) Project – Availability of $50,000 to Participate in the Environmental Assessment

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is making available $50,000 under its Participant Funding Program to assist groups and individuals to participate in the environmental assessment of the proposed KSM (Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell) Project in northwestern British Columbia.

Seabridge Gold Inc. is proposing to develop the copper and gold deposits found in the Kerr, Sulphurets and Mitchell Creek watersheds located about 65 km northwest of Stewart, B.C. The proposed development is expected to process between 100,000 and 120,000 tonnes per day of ore over a mine life of at least 30 years.

To receive funding, successful applicants must participate in the environmental assessment of the project. This funding is intended for activities that will follow the public consultation currently underway on the scope of the project.

A funding review committee, independent of the environmental assessment process, will consider all applications and make recommendations on the allocation of funds. Applications received by the Agency by June 30, 2010 will be considered.

Information on the program, including the Participant Funding Program Guide, the application form and the contribution agreement, is available at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca. Information on the proposed project is also available on the Agency’s website in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, under reference number 09-03-49262.
