Sundancer Solar Phase 2 Project

Phase 2 expansion activities will consist of the construction of the power plant; including bi-facial solar panels and their accompanying racking, piles, inverters and cabling. The project footprint for this project is 1, 641 m2 and will occur on developed land. No tree clearing and/or grubbing will be needed for the construction of the project.

Construction will generally proceed on a tower-by-tower basis. Ground disturbance will be limited to the individual tower foundation locations and any localized areas required for the electrical installation. Construction vehicles, delivery trucks and lifting equipment will operate within the defined work and access areas. The project activities include:

• Installing the localized foundation or pile system and grounding electrodes at each of the 38 proposed tower locations.
• Assembling and erecting the tower structures using lifting equipment.
• Mounting eight photovoltaic arrays on each tower.
• Installing the associated DC wiring, inverters, disconnects, AC collection conductors, grounding, communications and monitoring equipment.
• Installing any required transformer, metering and protection equipment.
• Electrically connecting the Phase 2 system to the existing Phase 1 electrical infrastructure.
• Completing mechanical and electrical inspections, functional testing and commissioning.

Natural Resources Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Natural Resources Canada is inviting comments from the public on the proposed project to help inform its determination under Section 82 of the Impact Assessment Act.
