The Proposed Project
The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. DND proposes to repair and reinstate roadways, parking areas, and associated site infrastructure surrounding Building 101 at Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Leitrim Detachment Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Project includes milling and repaving of existing roadways, parking areas, grading improvements, assessment and widening of roadways where warranted, replacement of roadway and drainage infrastructure, vegetation clearing where required to facilitate drainage improvements and roadway sightline enhancements, installation of site access control infrastructure, and associated site improvements required to support continued operation of the facility. Work will occur primarily within existing developed and disturbed areas associated with Building 101, including the access road corridor, parking areas, 25 m range parking area, existing drainage features, and associated operational infrastructure. The purpose of the Project is to improve site accessibility, safety, drainage performance, security, and long-term operational functionality while maintaining existing land use and operational requirements. The work is expected to occur Winter 2026/2027.
