Bonaventure Expressway, Section 10: Box girder replacement, paving and repair of structural elements

Longueuil, August 11^th, 2026 – The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) has determined that the Project, Bonaventure Expressway, section 10, Box girder replacement, paving and repair of structural elements (ABP0007) will result in minor adverse environmental effects. No significant cumulative effects are anticipated in relation to the proposed work. 

This determination is based on the following factors: 

• Impacts on the rights of Indigenous peoples; 

• Indigenous knowledge; 

• Community knowledge; 

• Comments received from the public; and 

• Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures. 

Effective mitigation measures are planned for each potential environmental impact. The main mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are the following: 

• Developing and applying, where required, an emergency response plan in the event of an accidental spill; 

• Conducting regular inspection and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures and access facilities during the work; 

• Prohibiting any discharge of water from the worksite into the Peel Basin; 

• Contaminated soil management, waste water management, nuisance control, and hazardous and residual materials control in accordance with JCCBI standard specifications. 

JCCBI has experience in carrying out similar work and is confident that this project is not likely to cause adverse effects on the environment. In addition, a firm specialized in construction supervision has been retained to continuously monitor the work and ensure that the planned measures are respected. 

Consequently, JCCBI will move forward and allow the project to be carried out, in whole or in part.
