Hiawatha Roadway and Infrastructure Upgrades

August 6, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Hiawatha Roadway and Infrastructure Upgrades, located in Oromocto First Nation, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project:

This project includes the replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer and stormwater underneath Hiawatha Avenue, Hiawatha Crt, and Mahsos Crt, complete with full road reconstruction, curb, and gutter.  Project works are occurring within an existing municipal roadway corridor that is approximately 20m or more from an existing small stream.
