The Proposed Project
The community of Mashteuiatsh wishes to extend Amishk Street and undertake residential and institutional development. This project addresses the needs created by current population growth.
The project includes: the construction of institutional infrastructure such as a social pediatrics center, a senior living facility, a youth center, and a high school, as well as the development of 56 residential units.
The project's footprint for the institutional component is 13,582 square meters. The residential component covers 7,861 square meters.
The planned work includes:
- Clearing, stump removal, topsoil stripping, and reclamation of removed topsoil;
- Excavation and installation of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems;
- Relocation of the sanitary sewer outfall pipe;
- Construction of roadways, sidewalks, green islands, and paving.
The land is currently undeveloped. The site includes two wetlands in the short-term development zones, as well as larger wetlands in the future development zones. The work will be carried out in a manner that minimizes impacts on these wetlands and ensures the flow of water that feeds them.
