Notice of intent to make a determination

Lucky Man Cree Nation Cultural Centre and Site Servicing – Public Comments Invited

July 22, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Lucky Man Cree Nation Cultural Centre and Site Servicing is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Lucky Man Cree Nation  is proposing to build a new cultural centre, including a traditional knowledge sharing space, a future ceremony building, and associated pathways and access road. The project is intended to provide cultural spaces and amenities, as well as the required water and sewer systems to accompany these spaces. To service the building, a site servicing plan has also been developed, including a septic field (pipes), water cistern, trenches, and septic tank.

Site prep will include minor vegetation clearing and grubbing, as well as excavation and earthworks (grading). Construction will include excavation and drilling for the septic field, and construction (above-ground) of the traditional knowledge sharing space. Landscaping, re-seeding, and tree planting will also be completed surrounding the knowledge sharing space.
