The Proposed Project
ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. is planning to relocate approximately 500m of 60.3mm diameter polyethylene gas main at the request of Tsuut'ina Nation to accommodate a proposed Medical Centre currently in conflict with the existing gas main. The gas main will be installed at a depth of 0.8m - 1.1m below ground surface and will be installed primarily using horizontal diagonal drilling (HDD) and plow-in methods.
Construction will include removal of topsoil, installation of gas main, back filling with original material, reclamation, and commissioning by flaring a small volume of sweet natural gas.
One wetland (seasonal graminoid marsh) is located within 30m of the site project. The project will include the pre-construction wildlife sweeps.
Indigenous Services Canada must Issue a permit under the Indian Act for the project.
