Manto Sipi Remediation of Former Band Tank Farm Site

September 10, 2021 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the  Manto Sipi Remediation of Former Band Tank Farm Site is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

• impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
• Indigenous knowledge;
• community knowledge;
• comments received from the public;
• mitigation measures.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

• groundwater protections;
• emissions and air quality management;
• fuel management, spill prevention and clean-up;
• waste management;
• noise and traffic control; and
• site access restrictions for safety

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations.
