The Proposed Project
Calgary Fuel Facilities Corporation (CFFC) is the owner of existing fuel storage tank installations located at 8080 McCall Way North East at the Calgary International Airport. CFFC plans to increase the number of fuel storage tanks and upgrade the current fire suppression system. These improvements are intended to meet increasing fuel demand at the airport and to enhance emergency preparedness for the fuel storage tank installations.
The proposed project will involve the installation of two aboveground storage tanks for Jet A-1 fuel, each with a nominal capacity of 4,770 m³, within a secondary containment structure. The proposed project also involves associated piping, tie-ins to the existing underground drainage system, cathodic protection, expansion of the containment structure, mechanical equipment, fencing, and fire suppression system upgrades at the fuel storage tank installations.
The upgraded fire suppression system will include a new fire service building equipped with diesel-driven fire pumps, piping, fire fighting foam storage, and related components.
