Baptiste Nickel Project
Notice of time limit suspension with reasons
Ottawa — June 17, 2026 — On June 11, 2026, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) suspended the 180-day time limit for the planning phase under the Impact Assessment Act for the Baptiste Nickel Project proposed by FPX Nickel Corp. (the proponent).
IAAC has taken this action in consideration of a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order that it may have sufficient time to align the federal and provincial regulatory processes including affirming how Indigenous nations will be involved in the assessment.
When the proponent has provided IAAC with a confirmation that additional discussions with Indigenous nations have taken place, IAAC will post a notice that the prescribed activity is completed and the 180-day time limit will resume.
